Look Closer: Photo Project

Look Closer: Photo Project

Please join us in celebrating Look Closer: Photo Project, a PCP initiative encouraging environmental awareness. Opening Friday, 19 August, 6 pm – 8 pm. RSVP here.

Look Closer: Photo Project is a PCP initiative in raising environmental awareness and care. The project asks participants to seek out discarded objects, or trash, observe, document and photograph.

The resulting documentation is presented both digitally and physically in the King Street Arts Centre. The exhibition aims to encourage reflection on how we inhabit our everyday spaces.

Make Art With Trash

WA audiences are invited to respond to the And Yet it Moves exhibition by TRES currently showing at Perth Centre for Photography.

Perth Centre for Photography wants you to get creative with trash in the city of Perth. Have your work displayed in a public exhibition for the world to see; online and at the PCP gallery! The exhibition will help to raise awareness about caring for our environment.

TRES is a Mexican art collective that travelled to Australia in 2016 to conduct fieldwork. The result: 6,383kms, 24 campsites, 29 driving days, 11 flights, and thousands of indistinct, well-documented trash and an ecological understanding of its journey.

To participate in the Look Closer: Photo Project, visit one of the contributing businesses listed on the map below.

Ask for your Look Closer Trash Kit from the counter, follow the instructions and upload your photograph by the 9th of August. Your photograph will be included in an exhibition in August at the King Street Arts Centre.
