Artist Statement / Description of artwork
This photograph, an outtake from the artist's series on culturally significant borewater stains, captures a hallmark of Perth’s suburban landscape. In one of Australia's driest cities, borewater stains—caused by high iron content in the groundwater—appear on houses, bins, walls, and sports ovals, marking spaces tied to local memories. These stains visually reflect Perth’s climate challenges and illustrate the interplay between land and inhabitants, revealing how Western Australia’s environment imprints itself on daily life and cultural identity.
