GeoHistology A
By Rob Cox
Artist Bio
Originally from Sydney, Rob has had a camera in his hand for more than 60 years. He shoots anything that gets in his way but concentrates on landscapes, and specifically aerial abstracts. For him, the essential element in the successful image is energy, whether it's the energy of the subject in a dynamic portrait or the environmental energy in a landscape; whether it's explicit in movement or implicit in mood. His most recent work is a series called GeoHistology which represents compromised landscapes as slides under a microscope.
Artist Statement / Description of artwork
This aerial image reveals an environment scarred by mining, with abstract forms, colours, and textures resembling diseased tissue under a microscope. Part of the GeoHistology series, it invites viewers to see Earth as a living organism, bearing the cellular impacts of relentless mineral exploitation.
