Artist Statement / Description of artwork

This image was taken at the end point of the Sealy Tarns hike in Mount Cook, famously nicknamed the 'Stairway to Heaven'. Framed by a backdrop of ethereal white, the scene captures the stark beauty of nature and the resilience of those who venture into it. The presence of the hikers adds a sense of scale and isolation, a reminder of how fragile and vulnerable humans can be within the vastness of our beautiful earth.
