Artist Statement / Description of artwork
Jesse Lee actively searches for the strange, peculiar and fascinating. With his focus on the human experience Jesse finds himself in unique circumstances which he documents with his camera. Jesse's photographs are shot both locally and abroad. "Ursuline Convent Nuns" was an image shot at the South Fremantle convent. After stumbling past two Nun's standing out the front of the convent one night, Jesse discussed the ideas of sacrifice, life, death and braving the unknown with them. After this conversation Jesse shot this image. The image embodys' many of these ideas and it's void like negative space allows the viewer to contemplate ideas about faith and the unknown.
