Bio
Kaz is a Perth-based photographer who studied Photography at Perth Metro TAFE and RMIT University, working across both Perth and Melbourne for more than two decades. She has an extraordinary eye for finer details, creating the space for a fresh narrative to emerge through photographic works that remain distinct and timeless.
 
She has a knack for capturing remarkable moments, guided by a sense of timing that embraces both surreal, once-in-a-lifetime instants and the candid in-between shots that sit at the heart of her practice.
 
Kaz has become well known for creating fully realised concepts that set the tone for images which are both surprising and real — a style grounded in storytelling and recognised for its balanced complexity.
 
Her fine-art photography remains an intimate pursuit: Wanderings With Camera In Hand, a body of work shaped by an observational, candid sensibility aligned with the Magnum tradition.

Shot during Kaz’s residency with Skyfields at Perth International Airport, the image sits inside a practice built on an instinct for the unscripted - leaning into a way of seeing shaped by quiet observation, no interference, and the patience to hold space for the scene to unfold. 
 
There’s a distinct play with surrealism as the viewer notices the “spaceship” isn’t entirely earthbound - leaving open the possibility that the whole scene could, at any moment, lift off into the whimsical clouds that have formed.
