Bio
Madeleine Fogliani is a Perth based photographer whose work explores the intricate relationship between humanity and the environment, both personal and collective. Driven by a deep curiosity about identity, human experience, and the spaces we inhabit, Madeleine’s lens brings attention to the ways in which personal narratives and larger environmental contexts intertwine, creating visually powerful works that invite reflection and emotional engagement. 
 
A graduate of Curtin University with a Bachelor of Arts, Madeleine’s recent artistic achievements include being selected as a finalist in the 2025 National Emerging Art Prize, the 2025 Perth Centre for Photography Iris Award, the 2025 City of South Perth Emerging Artist Award, the 2025 City of Subiaco Photographic Awards and the 2024 Perth Centre for Photography CLIP Award.
 
Statement 
Dance became my doorway into embodiment. In this self-portrait, the shimmer of light across my skin, the darkness holding the frame, and the subtle tension of arms wrapped around myself express the sensations of returning inward. It is a surrendering to the freedom in being seen and unseen at once. Movement becomes grounding, answering only to itself, a quiet defiance glowing in the dark. 
 
This is not just dance — it is the self, reclaimed.
