Artist Statement / Description of artwork 
This image is part of a series of self-portraits that represent personal transformation. It is a reflection of the growth that is required to embrace change and let go of the past. Throughout this series I also questioned at what point a photo is no longer a direct record of reality, but rather a new visual statement. Are images in this series still photography or do they toe the line towards graphic art? Where is the line between the two, or has the availability of technology and cultural acceptance of photo-manipulation now blurred the distinction?
