Artwork statement

The work Malign Influencias by Diego Moreno, explores in a genuine andpeculiar way the archive, the individual and collective memory. It is agraphic intervention project on the author’s family photographic archive inwhich through the manual use of colored pencils, graphite, India ink, markers, oil or materials such as chlorine or vinegar, he intervenes thephotographs as a way to create new possible realities from his obsessionand fascination with the anomalous.Inspired by the apocalyptic vision of the Catholic religion he served fortwelve years as a child altar boy and raised in a highly religiousenvironment, he grew up disturbed and violated for being who he wasbecause of his sexual orientation. His identity was veiled by the prejudicesand guilt bestowed upon you by religious doctrines and the family system.
